Phenomenological applications of rational approximants

2016

We illustrate the powerfulness of Padé approximants (PAs) as a summation method and explore one of their extensions, the so-called quadratic approximant (QAs), to access both space- and (low-energy) time-like (TL) regions. As an introductory and pedagogical exercise, the function [Formula: see text] is approximated by both kind of approximants. Then, PAs are applied to predict pseudoscalar meson Dalitz decays and to extract [Formula: see text] from the semileptonic [Formula: see text] decays. Finally, the [Formula: see text] vector form factor in the TL region is explored using QAs.

Consistent large-scale shell-model analysis of the two-neutrino ββ and single β branchings in 48Ca and 96Zr

2020

Abstract Two-neutrino double-beta-decay matrix elements M 2 ν and single beta-decay branching ratios were calculated for 48Ca and 96Zr in the interacting nuclear shell model using large single-particle valence spaces with well-tested two-body Hamiltonians. For 48Ca the matrix element M 2 ν = 0.0511 is obtained, which is 5.5% smaller than the previously reported value of 0.0539. For 96Zr this work reports the first large-scale shell-model calculation of the nuclear matrix element, yielding a value M 2 ν = 0.0747 with extreme single-state dominance. These matrix elements, combined with the available ββ-decay half-life data, yield effective values of the weak axial coupling which in turn are u…

Measuring the black hole spin direction in 3D Cartesian numerical relativity simulations

2015

We show that the so-called flat-space rotational Killing vector method for measuring the Cartesian components of a black hole spin can be derived from the surface integral of Weinberg's pseudotensor over the apparent horizon surface when using Gaussian normal coordinates in the integration. Moreover, the integration of the pseudotensor in this gauge yields the Komar angular momentum integral in a foliation adapted to the axisymmetry of the spacetime. As a result, the method does not explicitly depend on the evolved lapse $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ and shift ${\ensuremath{\beta}}^{i}$ on the respective time slice, as they are fixed to Gaussian normal coordinates while leaving the coordinate label…

A novel four-quadrant power supply for low-energy correction magnets

2003

Abstract This paper describes an efficient power supply to feed low-energy correction magnets in particle accelerator applications, where a controlled current with trapezoidal profile and four-quadrant operation is needed. The selected design is based on an AC–DC matrix converter topology, which uses the Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique to obtain a near unity power factor at the AC input and output DC current regulation. This topology allows performing high-frequency isolation, while four-quadrant operation is maintained, and reducing volume and weight as compared with the classical thyristor (SCR)-based technology. Control tasks are implemented on an all-digital control card: output…

Three-body hadronic molecules

2010

In this talk, I discuss our recent studies of three-hadron systems and the resonances found therein. The studies consist of solving Faddeev equations with the input two body interactions obtained from the chiral Lagrangians. The systems which we study are either made of two mesons and a baryon or of three mesons. The motivation for these studies comes from the data on many baryon resonances, especially the ones with Jπ = 1/2+, which show a large branching ratio to the two meson-one baryon decay channels. In addition to this, several new studies at BES, BELLE, BABAR etc., claim the existence of new meson resonances which seem to couple strongly to three-meson systems, where mostly two out of…

Covariant approximation averaging

2015

We present a new class of statistical error reduction techniques for Monte-Carlo simulations. Using covariant symmetries, we show that correlation functions can be constructed from inexpensive approximations without introducing any systematic bias in the final result. We introduce a new class of covariant approximation averaging techniques, known as all-mode averaging (AMA), in which the approximation takes account of contributions of all eigenmodes through the inverse of the Dirac operator computed from the conjugate gradient method with a relaxed stopping condition. In this paper we compare the performance and computational cost of our new method with traditional methods using correlation…

Study of the J/ψ→ϕ(ω)f2(1270), J/ψ→ϕ(ω)f2′(1525) and J/ψ→K∗0(892)K¯2∗0(1430) decays

2009

Abstract We present an approach to study the decay modes of the J / ψ into a vector meson and a tensor meson, taking into account the nature of the f 2 ( 1270 ) , f 2 ′ ( 1525 ) , K ¯ 2 ∗ 0 ( 1430 ) resonances as dynamically generated states from the vector meson-vector meson interaction. We evaluate four ratios of partial decay widths in terms of a flavor dependent OZI breaking parameter and the results obtained compare favorably with experiment, although the experimental uncertainties are still large. Further refinements of the data would provide a more stringent test on the theoretical approach. The fit to the data is possible due to the particular strength and sign of the couplings of t…

Case in favor of theN*(1700)(3/2−)

2013

Using an interaction extracted from the local hidden-gauge Lagrangians, which brings together vector and pseudoscalar mesons, and the coupled channels rho N (s wave), pi N (d wave), pi Delta (s wave), and pi Delta (d wave), we look in the region ofv root s = 1400-1850 MeV and find two resonances dynamically generated by the interaction of these channels, which are naturally associated to N*(1520)(3/2(-)) and N*(1700)(3/2(-)). N*(1700)(3/2(-)) appears neatly as a pole in the complex plane. The free parameters of the theory are chosen to fit the pi N (d-wave) data. Both the real and imaginary parts of the pi N amplitude vanish in our approach in the vicinity of this resonance, which is simila…

Photoproduction of K∗ for the study of Λ(1405)

2004

Abstract The photo-induced K ∗ vector meson production is investigated for the study of the Λ(1405) resonance. This reaction is particularly suited to the isolation of the second pole in the Λ(1405) region which couples dominantly to the K N channel. We obtain the mass distribution of the Λ(1405) which peaks at 1420 MeV, and differs from the nominal one. Combined with several other reactions, like the π−p→K0πΣ which favours the first pole, this detailed study will reveal a novel structure of the Λ(1405) state.

Effects of aNcc¯*resonance with hidden charm in theπ−p→D−Σc+reaction near threshold

2015

We study the effect of a hidden charm nuclear excited state ${N}_{c\overline{c}}^{*}$ in the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{c}^{+}$ reaction near threshold using an effective Lagrangian approach. We calculate the background contribution of the $t$ and $u$ channels by the ${D}^{*0}$ vector meson exchange and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{c}^{++}$ intermediate state, respectively. We show that the consideration of a ${N}_{c\overline{c}}^{*}$ resonance provides an enhancement of the total cross section close to the reaction threshold. We also evaluate the differential cross section for different energies and w…
